Corona Clipper Stainless Steel Weeder with Fulcrum HT 65100 Review

Corona Clipper Stainless Steel Weeder with Fulcrum HT 65100

Best sort of hand-weeder for extracting deep-rooted perennial weeds. The fulcrum is standard in the British Isles, but is rare in the U.S.

The Corona Clipper stainless steel weeder with built-in fulcrum features a wood handle and leather strap. The unit sports a stainless steel head with a hardened and tempered mirror-polished finish for easy wipe-off cleaning. The deeply notched blade can grasp large and small tap roots to actually extract weeds instead of slicing them off. Meanwhile, the curved flange serves as a fulcrum to lever weeds out, eliminating wrist strain. The strong hardwood handle was designed to accommodate a comfortable grip all-day long, and the unit's leather strap allows for convenient hanging storage. The weeder comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Fiskars 7880 3-Claw Garden Weeder Review

Fiskars 7880 3-Claw Garden Weeder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 11 year old watched me pull one weed then grabbed it and had a great time pulling dandelions, yes that's right, he spent more than an hour pulling weeds around the house for fun. It's kind of addicting and very satisfying when you pull the entire tap root, we had some over 12" long (see customer images). The majority of the time 3" or so of the root that comes up, sometimes the dandelions come out first pull, others take a few attempts, often you snap the top off but can get the root on a second attempt. Also it leaves a good sized hole that will need to be filled but it's better than a dandelion if you ask me, shake the dirt off and it's no big deal. It's spring time so the soil here is soft and this tool work wonders, might be a different story late summer when our clay soil is dry and hard.
My neighbors have the 4 claw Fiskars 7870, it works well but the plastic body cracked near one of the claws, which seems to be very common with that model from other reviews. So I bought a Weed Hound since it's steel. That is the only good thing about it because it's worthless on dandelions, just snaps the top off since it's spikes are short, back to the store for the Weed Hound.
Then I saw this Fiskars 7880 at Lowes and my first impression was it looks much sturdier than the 7870 so I bought it. It has 3 claws and there is more steel supporting the claws and moving parts. The "eject" handle is at the base, so after you pull a weed you have to swing it up to your hand to eject the weed, but it's more solid and less plastic than the 7870's ejector that is mid shaft with a longer plastic mechanism. So the eject isn't as ergonomic with this compared to the 7870 but this is simpler and less likely to fail IMO.
Using this is super easy: open the jaws fully with the ejector or pushing the lever down so it is square to the shaft, hold the shaft vertical, center the dandelion inside the claws, jam the shaft down and/or step on the lever so the claws are as deep as they'll go, tilt the shaft toward you so claws pinch in, keep pulling as the lever acts as a fulcrum against the ground, then out comes the weed. Go slow at first to get a feel for it, too fast and you will snap the dandelion off. This takes a few seconds, after a few tries you'll have it figured out
So to sum it up this thing works quite well for me, some might not like the big holes it leaves but I don't see any other way. You don't have to bend over, it's quick and effective, and if you have a kid they just might do it for you

V&B Mfg Co Handy Mattock Tiller - 36" Handle Review

VandB Mfg Co Handy Mattock Tiller - 36 Handle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A well-made tool for battling serious weeds!
The 3 long tines can be easily driven into the soil at the base of the offending plant; the long handle provides leverage to rip it out. Then, when you've got a pile of debris, the tines provide a handy rake to clean it all up.
I've used it on big clumps of perennial grasses, on patches of Bermuda grass, on invading blackberries, on French broom, and lots of other things.
The mattock end is well-sharpened, great for precision whacking of things like dandelion, Picris, dock and other small weeds.

Garden Weasel 91326 Tall Mini Claw Review

Garden Weasel 91326 Tall Mini Claw
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In my efforts of going green I purchased this product to help loosen dirt and for weeding. I had never used on of these before, so I was a bit leary. It really works well on weeds, even if the weeds are getting pretty tall, the mini claw helps to loosen the dirt around the roots, so you can pull them clean away with the whole root attached. I'm disabled, so I have to use this sitting down, and it is the perfect size for me. I'd purchase this item again, so I would encourage family and friends to get one as well.

I've bought many garden tools over the years...BUT...I must say that I keep coming back to the Wolf brand. In a word...Perfection. You can't beat Wolf for quality and intended use. Their Multi-Star line allows for on and off tool attachment with a click. I bought this item WOLF-Garten Mini Weeder-Cultivator #2953004 for cultivation/weeding of my smaller flower beds. With this item I also purchased the 59 inch extention handle WOLF-Garten 59-Inch Multi-Star Aluminum Handle #3942154 This extention handle allows me to reach the back of the flower bed with ease. Work smart as the old saying goes. With Wolf you can enjoy your garden chores. They offer the right tool for each job. Corona Clipper Cultivator With Telescoping 32-Inch Aluminum Handle & Comfort Grip GT 3070 Review

Corona Clipper Cultivator With Telescoping 32-Inch Aluminum Handle and Comfort Grip GT 3070

I couldn't decide between the Black and Decker cultivator and this one... I actually needed two... one for me and one for my "hired hand. This, too, was "perfect tool for those of you who need to weed/ cultivate small tight areas of the garden and spare the bending over that so often causes back pain. A great product at a great price... with great results. You can't go wrong with either, but if you pressed me into choosing one, I think I liked the Black and Decker better for being a bit more ergonomic and overall design.

It does what it suppose to do fairly easy. It's not heavy duty, but it is sturdy. I can't say about it's durability since I owned it for a couple of months and only used a couple of times. For small gardening, it is a fine tool.
